We are seeking a day shift production supervisor responsible for the lean operation of all production, including managing the workforce to ensure SQDC initiatives are met.
Essential job functions:
- Supervises cell leads, cell associates & temporary labor
- Meets daily production scheduled requirements with materials and labor.
- Oversees and ensures plant safety of associates, quality of product and delivery.
- Allocates manpower to satisfy scheduled requirements, Lean events and/or other departmental manning deficiencies.
- Ensures productivity objectives are met.
- Supports and participates in Kaizen and Lean initiatives; 5S, Standard Work, Kanban, Variation Reduction and Visual Management.
- Supports and participates in strategy departmental initiatives and new product introduction.
- Lead daily production meeting as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties:
The following includes but is not limited to the duties and responsibilities; other tasks may be assigned.
- Ensures all associates are compliant with safety PPE requirements.
- Ensures all safety incidents are communicated in a timely manner and incident forms are completed in 24hrs.
- Ensures associates are completing 1st piece part checks, verify quality and signing off.
- Works the necessary hours to accomplish production objectives, typically 45 – 50 hr/wk. Scheduled, and unscheduled overtime is required as need to support demand and ship requirements.
- Obtains and maintains a good working knowledge of BioFit products and processes.
- Report daily productivity including critical issues impacting daily misses and/or potentially upcoming missed shipments.
- Monitor PLEX UX daily to ensure material is available and WIP scheduled to meet Customer requirements.
- Trains and ensures associates are using PLEX UX to report hourly production, uptime, DT, scrap, logging in/out daily and using PLEX scheduling.
- Ensures associates daily in/out punches are accurate.
- Communicates with Human Resources to recruit necessary labor.
- Daily start of shift communication meetings with cell leads-Safety/Quality/Schedule/General communications.
- Develop and support cell leads to meet expectations (See Cell Lead Job Description).
- Implements and maintains Plant visual metrics for continuous improvement: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Performs Root Cause analysis and implements sustainable Corrective Actions utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools.
- Leads Monthly GEMBA WALK and records audit scores. Incremental area audit score improvements for re-audits.
- Trains associates as required in relevant areas.
- Facilitates personnel issues with all associates including but not limited to: Payroll, attendance, discipline, work schedules and evaluations
- Develops job descriptions, work instructions and standard procedures. Interviews, selects, trains, and assigns new personnel
- Assists in analyzing division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made and allocates operating budget
- Works effectively with the Union
- Prepares recommendations on findings for management evaluation. Recommends capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment which would increase efficiency and services of operations department

Requirements:
- High School Diploma, 2-year degree or higher preferred
- 3-4 years of previous supervisory experience in a Union manufacturing environment
- Must possess basic computer skills including experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Word & Excel
- Lean / TPS knowledge, experience and practice
- Must have excellent internal customer relations skills and experience.
- Must be capable of leading, directing and working with cross functional groups and associates.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standards exist. Must be able to interpret oral, written and diagram instructions.
