Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, goods, and services. This role involves developing purchasing strategies, maintaining supplier relationships, and coordinating with internal teams to meet the company’s supply needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Purchasing Strategies: Create and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure the best value for the company.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective procurement.
- Demand Forecasting and EOC: Analyze demand forecasts and establish optimal economic order quantities (EOC).
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse and production teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Cost Control: Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market trends and forecasts to anticipate changes in supply and demand.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the purchasing team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain process.
- Inventory Accuracy: Prepare and execute year-end inventory for manufacturing facility, overseeing and ensuring regular cycle counts are completed.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Certification in supply chain management or APICS CSCP certification preferred
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role.
- 10-15 years of experience in the purchasing department of a manufacturer with progressive roles.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems, Plex preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Global sourcing experience and working with a purchasing agent preferred.
- Project management experience preferred.
